Prerequisites, BCHM 208  or BIOL 208  and CHEM 230 CHEM 230L . The immune system protects the body from infection, and disorders of the immune system can lead to disease. Dive into the fascinating world of immunology with this upper-division course designed for biochemistry and biology students. Explore the intricate mechanisms of the immune system, including cell-mediated and extra-cellular (humoral) responses, and learn about proteins that accompany traditional immune cells (the complement system). Delve into the genetic underpinnings that drive immune functions and discover the complexities of immune system abnormalities, immunological diseases, and hypersensitivity reactions. This comprehensive course combines detailed lectures with engaging discussions/case studies, providing a robust understanding of immunology’s critical role in health and disease.  Lecture.
