EDUC 583 - Student Teaching: Single Subject


Prerequisites, admission in the Teacher Credential and/or Master of Arts in Teaching program. Passage of CBEST, CSET, successful completion of U.S. Constitution course or test requirement, and certificate of clearance. Candidates must also verify the following: successful completion of CBEST, CSET, successful completion of the prerequisite courses (no grade lower than C+), California Certificate of Clearance (TB and Livescan), and the Student Teaching Application must be signed and approved by the program coordinator. Corequisites, EDUC 589  and EDUC 518  (Math and Science credential candidates) or EDUC 578  (Social Studies and English credential candidates). This fieldwork experience is designed to be completed during the third term of the Teacher Credential and/or Master of Arts in Teaching program. Candidates are required to work under the supervision of a credentialed teacher in an appropriate public secondary school classroom during the full school day (7 hours/day) and for a minimum of 15 weeks. Candidates are required to assume co-teaching and/or solo teaching responsibilities for the full school day during week 3 to week 15. Pass/No Pass. May be repeated once for credit. (Offered spring semester.) 3-6 credits
