EDUC 518 - Secondary Subject Matter Methods II: Math and Science

Prerequisites, admission to the Teacher Credential and/or Master of Arts in Teaching program and EDUC 517. This course is the second of a two semester series to prepare teacher candidates to create democratic learning communities for mathematics and science teaching and learning. Candidates will learn to teach mathematics and science from an interdisciplinary framework to diverse student populations. This course focuses on the clinical practice of teaching in mathematics and science. The course involves lesson study, lesson design (short- and long-term interdisciplinary units), teaching practicum, and reflection. May be held together/concurrently with EDUC 578 - Secondary Subject Matter Methods II: Social Studies and Language Arts. Letter grade. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
