General Music, Minor

The Minor in General Music is designed to give students a background in music theory, music history and in music performance (both solo and ensemble settings). All undergraduate students of any major are eligible to declare this minor, except for students earning a Bachelor of Music degree or a B.A. in Music.

Students passing out of MUS 130 , MUS 133  or MUS 134  by placement exam, must substitute an equal number of credits (as were passed by exam) from the upper-division elective courses in the minor.

Admissions process: Interview for admission to the minor program. Do an audition on your primary instrument.  If admitted, the music minor interviewer will submit the appropriate forms and you will be declared as a general music minor.

A minimum of 9 credits must be selected from upper-division courses.
