MUS 134 - Theory II

Prerequisite, pass MUS 133  with a “C” or better, or pass music theory placement exam. Prerequisite for B.M. composition major, pass MUS 133  with a “B” or better, or pass music theory placement exam. Overview of chromaticism including tonicization, secondary functions, modulation. Introduction to cadences, phrases, periods, simple part-forms. Continuing exercises in harmonic analysis, 4-part voice leading, and composition. MUS 134 can be met by passing the appropriate section of the music theory placement exam.  Letter grade. (Offered spring semester.) 2 credits
