Requirements for the Special Education Preliminary Joint Credentials - Multiple Subject and Special Education Mild/Moderate
- Submit passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) or equivalent.
- Subject matter preparation requirement: subject matter requirements in special education are met by completing the subject matter requirements from either single subject or multiple subject programs. If the candidate already holds another basic teaching credential (i.e., multiple subject or single subject), no additional subject matter requirement is necessary.
- Passing score on the RICA exam prior to application for credential (exam should be taken after EDUC 500 ).
- Meet the U.S. Constitution requirement (by transcript or exam)..
- Obtain a Certificate of Clearance.
- Complete Infant, Child and Adult CPR requirement.
- Negative TB test.
- Successful completion of all credential courses listed below.
- In addition, all teacher education program candidates are expected to follow the Teacher Education Disposition Policy, which can be found in their respective Program Handbook.
Students pursuing the Special Education Preliminary Joint Credentials - Multiple Subject and Special Education Mild/Moderate are held to the University’s Academic Policies and Procedures . In addition these specific graduate course degree standards apply:
- Minimum grade “C+” or above required in all graduate coursework.
- Maintain 3.000 GPA in all graduate coursework.
