Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Graduate Degree Programs

This five-year program is open to all Chapman University undergraduates or admitted transfer students who have a strong mathematical or computational background and an interest in how people make personal and impersonal exchanges with individuals, corporations, and government entities. Chapman University undergraduates will have the opportunity to obtain a bachelor’s degree of their choice and a M.S. in Behavioral and Computational Economics with just one additional year of study. Before the end of their senior year, in addition to completing all MSBCE prerequisites, students admitted into this program must complete MGSC 532  and ECON 582 , which may be used to satisfy six credits of the 120 credits required for the undergraduate degree, and will also double count towards the requirements of the MSBCE graduate program. Students must also complete six additional credits of MSBCE coursework during their junior or senior year once they have met the admission requirements for this accelerated graduate degree.

Admission deadline

Submit an application for admission by May 31 after student’s junior year of college.

Admission requirements

  1. Complete roughly 75 credits or more of undergraduate coursework with a cumulative 3.000 GPA or higher and earn a cumulative 3.500 GPA or higher on prerequisite coursework or equivalent preparation.

  3. Achieve an acceptable score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
  4. Complete an interview in personal or via teleconferencing platform (Skype, Zoom, etc.).

Additional requirements for transfer students

  1. Be admitted to Chapman University in the undergraduate program of their choice.
  2. Speak with admissions about interest in the Accelerated Five-Year Undergraduate/Master of Science in Behavioral and Computational Economics program.
  3. Foreign applicants who are transferring from another institution may be required to achieve an acceptable score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a minimum score of 59 on the Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic).

Requirements for the Accelerated Master of Science in Behavioral and Computational Economics (MSBCE) degree

Requirements for the accelerated integrated MSBCE degree program are the same as those listed for the Master of Science in Behavioral and Computational Economics. Students must complete all prerequisite coursework prior to completion of their four year undergraduate degree, as well as MGSC 532  and ECON 582 .
