DOC 325 - Sports Documentary

Prerequisite, DOC 116. This course is an exploration of the fundamental creative, technical, and logistical challenges of creating sports documentaries. Learn how to make a sports documentary film in the field, from pre-production through post-production. Improve production skills in the areas of directing, shooting, location sound and above all, storytelling. During the weeks leading up to production of their film, students will explore, pitch, and produce a pre-production plan, then produce, direct, and edit a short sports documentary. Coursework will consist of lectures, screenings, critiques of student pitches, in-class demos, and guest lectures. This project involves out-of-class preparation and class work. Letter grade. $300 (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
