LEAD 397 - Leading as a Way of Serving: Pursuing Your Purpose in Life and Work

Prerequisites, LEAD 302 or LEAD 310, Leadership Minor, LEAD Themed Inquiry, or the consent of the instructor or program director. Contrasts Western conceptions of leadership with alternative approaches emphasizing being, service, and deep self-awareness, blending Eastern, Native American, Feminist, and Brazilian perspectives. Participants explore their purpose in life and work, with special attention to leading as a way of serving others. Core readings from leadership and organization development are supplemented with experiential exercises, self-assessments, and a weekend retreat. Letter grade. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
