LEAD 397 - Leading as a Way of Serving: Pursuing Your Purpose in Life and Work


Prerequisites, LEAD 302  or LEAD 310 , Leadership Minor, LEAD Themed Inquiry, or the consent of the instructor or program director. Contrasts Western conceptions of leadership with alternative approaches emphasizing being, service, and deep self-awareness, blending Eastern, Native American, Feminist, and Brazilian perspectives. Participants explore their purpose in life and work, with special attention to leading as a way of serving others. Core readings from leadership and organization development are supplemented with experiential exercises, self-assessments, and a weekend retreat. Letter grade. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
