LEAD 302 - Developing Effective Teams: Understanding Yourself and Others


Prerequisites: Leadership Minor, LEAD Themed Inquiry, or have the consent of the instructor or program director. This course explores the theory and practice of team building and benefits of team-based/shared leadership. This course will enhance participant’s understanding of themselves and others, with emphasis on how personality type impacts group interactions. Topics covered through lecture, self-assessments, experiential exercises and hands-on team consulting projects that include, but are not limited to: Emotional Intelligence, Jungian theory (temperament, interaction style, cognitive processes) stages of group development, conflict and collaboration, leadership communication, emotional intelligence, and the facilitation process. The course also includes participation in an adventure-based weekend retreat. Letter grade. With consent, this course may be repeated for credit. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
