MLD 663 - The Historical Foundations in Higher Education

Prerequisite, acceptance into the Master of Arts in Leadership Development Program. This course examines the historical foundations of American higher education, including its origins and purpose, organization and structure, and its ongoing concurrent evolution with society. Framed within historical and contemporary contexts, this course analyzes the intersection of history, philosophy, theory, and current practices of higher education leaders-as well as the impact upon students, institutions, and broader society. This course provides crucial grounding for leadership in higher education, offering historical insight for generating dynamic learning communities in complex higher education environments.
