PHRM 621 - Drug Delivery Systems I


Prerequisite, doctor of pharmacy major. This required course introduces students to physicochemical properties of drug molecules and their effects on formulation, manufacturing, and administration of solid, liquid, and semisolid products. Specific topics covered are pharmaceutical calculations involved in pharmacy compounding and industrial manufacturing; regulations of drug manufacturing and products, as well as governing regulations of compounding in USP 795; principles of dissolution, absorption, and other biopharmaceutical processes; drug administration routes; and solid, liquid, and semi-solid dosage forms.
