Students pursuing the Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Producing degree are held to the University’s Academic Policies and Procedures . In addition these specific degree standards apply:
- Complete 48 credits at the 500 or 600 level.
- Minimum grade “C+” or above required in all coursework.
- Maintain 3.000 GPA in the degree.
- Successfully complete a two-part thesis project:
- Produce advanced level films. (See academic advisor for details.)
- Develop an industry-ready project. (See academic advisor for details.)
- Pass an oral defense of the thesis project(s).
The following sequence of courses prepares students for successful completion of the thesis project. The courses must be taken in the following order, during the semesters indicated. Any deviation must be approved by the film division chair.
The following courses make up the MFA in Film and Television Producing curriculum:

first year (30 credits) - fall requirements (15 credits)
first year (30 credits) - spring requirements (12 credits)
first year (30 credits) - summer requirement (3 credits)
second year (18 credits) - fall requirements (9 credits)
second year (18 credits) - spring requirements (9 credits)
