Disability Studies, Minor

The interdisciplinary Minor in Disability Studies prepares students to work in disability-related professions or to integrate the concepts and experiences of people with disabilities into more general careers or academic professions. Admission to the minor requires approval from the coordinator of the minor.

Not open to IES majors with a community emphasis and disability studies focus area.

For additional information regarding the Minor in Disability Studies please contact Dr. Art Blaser in the Departments of Peace Studies and Political Science or Dr. Brian Glaser in the Department of English.

Students pursuing the Minor in Disability Studies are required to:

  • Take all courses in the minor for a letter grade.
  • Complete all courses with a “C-” or higher.
  • Ensure that 12 credits are upper-division and that at least 6 credits of the upper-division credits are completed in residency.
  • Complete 12 unique credits in the minor that are not duplicated in any other major or minor program in which the student is enrolled.
