A Minor in English requires a total of 18 credits in English at or above the 200-level. At least nine credits must be upper-division. Students who wish to design a minor in a particular area of interest should speak with an advisor in the Department of English.

The English minor allows students to explore the wide range of courses that comprise English Studies in the 21st Century. All courses in the English department count toward the minor, including all courses in literature, rhetoric and cultural studies; creative writing; and journalism. Please note that ENG 256  serves as the prerequisite for upper-division literature courses; ENG 204  is the prerequisite for upper-division creative writing courses; and ENG 215  is the perquisite for upper-division journalism courses.
