HUM 206 - Introduction to Transgender Studies

An introduction to the field of transgender studies, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to understanding gender and sex, one that draws from thinking in queer theory, feminist theory, the humanities and trans activism. From 19th century laws to 21st century virtual spaces across the globe, possible topics include trans art, history, literature, music, media, memoirs and manifestos. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered every year.) 3 credits
