MATH 460 - Modern Algebra

Prerequisite, MATH 380 . Concepts from group theory are extended to cover rings, integral domains, fields, vector spaces and Galois theory, with applications to geometry, algebraic coding theory and solvability of polynomials by radicals. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
