CHEM 441 - Physical Chemistry - Thermodynamics and Kinetics, Lecture and Laboratory

Prerequisites, PHYS 102 , CHEM 150 , and MATH 116  or MATH 210 . Uncover the secrets of energy, heat, and motion that drive chemical reactions and shape the physical world. In this course, you’ll develop an understanding of the forces that control everything from engines to biochemical reactions. Topics include equations of state, the laws of thermodynamics, energy transfer, entropy, thermodynamic potentials, spontaneity, reaction mechanisms, equilibrium, phases, and reaction kinetics. Letter grade. With consent, this course may be repeated for credit. (Offered spring semester.) 4 credits
