CHEM 432 - Advanced Organic Chemistry

Prerequisite, CHEM 331 . This course teaches the detailed study of selected advanced organic chemistry topics that are beyond the scope of CHEM 230/331 but have notable applications in industrial and clinical settings. Topics include: 1) the synthesis and properties of plastics, 2) the applications of inorganic chemistry in organic cross-coupling reactions, 3) the design and proposed synthesis of large organic molecules, and 4) light-triggered activation of certain chemical reactions. Letter grade. With consent, this course may be repeated for credit. (Offered fall semester, alternate years.) 3 credits
