CHEM 340 - Physical Chemistry - Quantum Chemistry, Lecture and Laboratory

Prerequisites, PHYS 102 , CHEM 150  and MATH 116  or MATH 210 . Explore the world of quantum mechanics and discover the principles that govern matter at its most fundamental level. This course guides you through the quantum behavior of atoms and molecules, offering a deep understanding of chemistry at its most fundamental level. Key topics include wavefunctions, operators, the Schrödinger equation, the hydrogen atom, molecular orbital theory, electronic structure, and spectroscopy. Letter grade. With consent, this course may be repeated for credit. (Offered fall semester.) 4 credits
