LEAD 315 - Diversity and Inclusion in Leadership


Prerequisites, declared Leadership Studies Minor or Themed Inquiry, or Liberal Studies/CES Major or Minor, Women’s Studies Minor, or consent of instructor or Program Director. Experts agree there is an irreversible trend toward increasing workplace diversity. LEAD 315 explores the importance of embracing inclusive practices that value cultural differences, particularly as they apply to leadership. Topics addressed include communication, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving, with special attention to primary dimensions of diversity (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability status, etc.). Reading, writing, research, and discussion are supplemented with exercises, role-plays, and simulations.  Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered every year.) 3 credits
