LEAD 260 - The Leader as Teacher and Coach


Prerequisite, Liberal Studies/CES major or minor, leadership studies minor, or consent of the instructor. This course examines the intersection of leader as a teacher and coach in a range of educational settings (e.g., high schools, training and development in organizations etc.). It examines leading as a way of being and doing, the challenges of courageously leading and teaching from authentic vulnerability, as well as a critical exploration of ways that the leader as teacher can create change in organizations. Topics include: Integrity; courage; the teacher as servant, coaching, facilitating, authentic leadership, building community, accountability, leading change. May be used to satisfy the “Leading with Integrity” or “Leading Change” requirement in the LEAD minor. Letter grade. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
