PHRM 784 - Veterinary Pharmacy


Prerequisites, PHRM 521, PHRM 521L, PHRM 571. This course provides interested students with the foundation, knowledge, and necessary skills required for the pharmaceutical care of companion animals, such as cats and dogs. Students will learn about the use of veterinary pharmaceuticals, as well as the application of human pharmaceuticals in the treatment of diseases affecting several veterinary species, including cats and dogs. The course will also include one session of hands-on compounding lab for a veterinary product. This elective course will cover: i) General considerations pertaining to the pharmacotherapy of companion animals. ii)   Pharmaceutical care for cats and dogs. iii) Preparing veterinary compounding product(s). Numerical grading. (Offered as needed.) 1 credit
