PHRM 546 - Integrated Therapeutics: Gastroenterology


Prerequisites, PHRM 535 , doctor of pharmacy major. This course provides students with an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to understanding of the disease process and therapeutic management of patients with gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases. The topics of discussion will include the principles of biochemistry, anatomy, immunology, pathophysiology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, clinical pharmacokinetics, clinical sciences, social/behavioral/administrative sciences and medication therapy management related to the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal/hepatic diseases. Gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases and conditions will include and are not limited to nausea and vomiting, constipation, irritable bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, pancreatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatic encephalopathy. Numerical grading. (Offered every year.) 4 credits
