Prerequisite, film studies, or television writing and production, or broadcast journalism and documentary major, or television minor, or the modern experience, or history and media, or media, culture and society cluster. A study of the history of this transformative medium, with particular emphasis placed on underlying social and cultural factors which influenced its development. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
