ITAL 385 - From Page to Screen: Literature and Film in Italy


Prerequisite, ITAL 201 , or consent of instructor. This course explores the evolution of the relationship between literature and film in Italy, focusing on their national and cultural functions, cases of collaborations between writers and directors, and especially strategies employed by filmmakers to adapt literary works to the screen. By engaging in detailed comparisons between cinematic adaptations and the novels, plays, and short stories on which they are based, students will learn about key Italian authors and develop their analytical skills in Italian.
