ART 325 - Advanced New Genres


Prerequisites ART 195 , ART 121 , ART 125 , and art major, or minor. This is an advanced studio course in which students will be engaged in making New Genres artworks with a focus on how contemporary theories and trends are informing the creation of artworks non-traditional media such as: performance, video, sound art, installation, social media, social practice, digital media, etc. New Genres encompass philosophical and discursive approaches in art, to include the tropes of social justice, identity politics, spirituality and metaphysics, institutional critique, collaboration, and more. Students will be expected to develop a portfolio of strong and innovative New Genres projects throughout this course. Fee: $75. (Offered fall semester, alternate years.) 3 credits
