MUS 260 - Electroacoustic Music I

Prerequisite, MUS 244, or consent of instructor. This course forms the first semester of the electroacoustic composition course sequence. Aspects of musique concrete, acousmatic, signal processing, digital recording, and an intro to live-electronic music are covered. In its approach the course will provide a combination of theoretical background and hands-on instruction, in order to familiarize the student with work in the studio (hardware, signal flow) and to facilitate the use of various software applications in a creative context. (Offered fall semester, alternate years.) 2 credits
