The Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Experience (APEx) Program

The Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Experience (APEx) Program is a 2 + 3 Pharm.D. degree program. Students complete the Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) course prerequisites at Chapman University in Orange, CA, in two years, and then receive admittance into the Chapman University School of Pharmacy Pharm.D. program. After completion of the prerequisites and fulfillment of the program requirements, students matriculate into the three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program at the Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine, CA. This accelerated program allows students to go from High School Graduation to a Doctor of Pharmacy, in just five years.

APEx Requirements:

  • Maintain a cumulative prerequisite GPA of at least 3.0, have no more than 1 semester with GPA between 2.6 and 3.0 and have no semester GPA below 2.6.
  • A minimum of 13 credits per semester must be taken at Chapman University for the first two years of the program. All prerequisites must be completed by the end of the spring semester of the second year.
  • Complete all prerequisite classes for a letter grade.
  • No grade below a C in any prerequisite class.
  • Elective classes must be 3-credit courses and cannot be 100 level math, chemistry or biology classes, nor can they be fulfilled with AP or IB test scores.
  • No more than 4 credits of prerequisite work may be taken outside of Chapman University after starting the Pre-Pharmacy Program.

To matriculate into professional Doctor of Pharmacy program:

  • Apply to Chapman School of Pharmacy, in late July or early August of your first Summer Break, through PharmCAS.
  • Excel during the APEx program to CUSP interview day.
  • Maintain US or Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.
  • Fulfill all Pre-Pharmacy Program requirements with a grade of C or better.
