Dance, Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: College of Performing Arts

Students interested in the Minor in Dance can apply for minor status after completing one semester of study within the department (minimum of one technique class). For acceptance as a minor, students must submit an application (see dance department administrator) and audition in the spring of the freshman or sophomore year. All dance students are placed in technique levels by audition or evaluation. Dance technique classes may be repeated for credit. Higher level technique classes may be used to fulfill lower level technique requirements. A minimum of nine credits must be taken from upper-division courses.

Dance minors may take up to 12 credits in physical activity classes (which include dance technique classes) towards the total credits needed to graduate (120). Additional credits taken beyond that limit, although recorded, will not count in total credits earned towards degree completion.
