Accelerated Undergraduate/Master of Science in Accounting

The Argyros School offers a specialized MSA program for Chapman University undergraduates, which enables students to begin taking MSA coursework in their senior year. The accelerated program is open to undergraduate students in the B.S. in Accounting program. Students may take up to 12 credits of graduate coursework during their senior year, of which 6 credits of graduate classes may count toward the 120 credits required for the bachelor’s degree. Up to 12 credits of graduate coursework taken senior year can be applied toward the 30 credits required for the MSA, allowing for accelerated completion of the MSA. Students focus on career preparation with assistance provided by Argyros Career Services.

Admission to the program

Admission to the Chapman Accelerated Five-Year Undergraduate/MSA program is very competitive. Applicants are evaluated on academic performance, leadership potential, volunteer and internship experience, and communication skills. Admission to the program may be achieved by the completion of the following requirements:

  1. Submit an application for admission in the spring of their junior year.
  2. Be enrolled at Chapman University and have completed 75 credits or more of undergraduate coursework with a cumulative GPA of 3.250 or higher.
  3. Achieve a score of 550 or higher on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
  4. Submit two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic or professional abilities.
  5. Complete a personal interview.

Admission deadlines

Prospective students are encouraged to submit their application by the May 1 deadline for full consideration and first priority.

Scholarships for eligible students are awarded based on the strength of the application. Scholarships are limited, so applicants who feel they are scholarship eligible should apply early.

Requirements for the Accelerated Undergraduate/Master of Science in Accounting degree


Requirements for the Master of Science in Accounting are listed in the graduate catalog. To accelerate the degree completion, students may enroll in as many as 12 credit hours of graduate classes prior to completion of the bachelor’s degree, of which up to 6 credit hours of classes may be applied to both the bachelor’s degree and the MSA. The graduate classes that may be taken before completion of the undergraduate degree must be selected from the following:

  • ACTG 540 - Accounting for Investments and Consolidations 3 credits
  • ACTG 541 - Not-For Profit and Government Accounting, and International Accounting 3 credits
  • ACTG 561 - Forensic and Fraud Accounting 3 credits
  • ACTG 571 - Advanced Business Law for Accountants 3 credits
  • BUS 601 - Economic Analysis for Business 3 credits
  • BUS 609 - Business Analytics 3 credits
  • BUS 632 - Financial Reporting and Analysis 3 credits
