Counseling and School Psychology Programs

The Attallah College of Educational Studies offers the following programs in Counseling and School Psychology.

Master of Arts degree in Counseling with an emphasis in professional clinical counseling. This is in addition to the M.A. in Counseling and the credential in Pupil Personnel Services in School Counseling. This program also meets the educational requirements of the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as set forth in Business and Professionals Code Sections 4999.33. Master of Arts in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling. The program prepares students to serve as counselors in public schools for grades K-12 and meets requirements for a California state credential authorizing service as a school counselor. Students may also choose an emphasis in Professional Clinical Counseling, which, in addition to the Master of Arts in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, also meets the educational requirements for licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor.

Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology. Students may also earn a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology. The school psychology program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists and the International Association of School Psychologists. The program prepares students to serve as psychologists in schools for ages preschool through high school. The program is designed as a full-time, three-year or six-semester program. With approval of an alternative program of study, candidates may attend part-time and complete the program in four years or eight semesters.

Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in professional clinical counseling for students earning the Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology. This program is designed to meet the educational requirements of the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as set forth in Business and Professionals Code Sections 4999.33.
