The Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders Department prepares students for clinical positions as speech-language pathologists in healthcare and education. Through skillful faculty leadership, mentoring and personalized instruction, students develop the knowledge and skills to assess and treat children and adults across the lifespan for speech, language, cognitive, voice, resonance and swallowing disorders. Evidence-based practice is the foundation of the curriculum, including clinical fieldwork courses. Clinical fieldwork sites include hospitals, clinics, private practices and schools. Graduates are eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a California Services credential in speech-language pathology and a California state license in speech-language pathology.
