LAW 7955 - Entertainment Financing

This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the customary sources and deal structures used in the financing of entertainment content (i.e. films, streaming and tv series) including the monetization schemes currently evolving in the entertainment industry.  If and to the extent all class participants are in agreement, up to four class sessions may be conducted on the premises of a major Hollywood agency, studio or streaming company in the L.A. area to allow students to engage directly with an array of entertainment financing and dealmaking professionals. Practical exercises will be conducted designed to give students experience in the negotiation and integration of disparate financing sources and distribution arrangements.  There is no final exam, rather at the end of the semester, the students will present a financing and distribution plan for a movie, tv/streaming program (or other entertainment content) to a jury of entertainment financing professionals. This course is an approved elective for the Entertainment Law Certificate.  This course will satisfy the Experiential Course Requirement. 3 credits.
