PHRM 778 - Mind and Body Medicine

Prerequisites, PHRM 511, PHRM 522L, PHRM 531, PHRM 621L, PHRM 622, PHRM 631, PHRM 641. This elective course provides knowledge and skills for pharmacists to examine and apply evidence-based theories of mind and body medicine. Students will be introduced to the bio-genomic-neural basis for proven effective treatments for common medical and mental conditions. Physical health is influenced by thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and vice versa, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be influenced by physical symptoms. Mind-body medicine recognizes lifestyle behaviors for disease prevention and treatment. Discussion in this mind-body medicine course will examine the interventions to health promotion and illness prevention for yourself and those you care for (family, friends, and patients). Pass/No Pass. (Offered as needed.) 1 credit
