AFST 305 - Afro-Latinx in the Americas


Prerequisite, AFST 101  or HUM 102  or consent of instructor. This course will explore being Black in Latin America and the experiences of Afro-Latinx communities in the United States from periods of enslavement to the present. The course addresses the intersection of race and ethnicity, how identity formation shapes Afro-Latinx racialization, and highlights the relevance of historical context in understanding contemporary race relations.
