TCHR 431 - Developing Effective Educational Environments


Prerequisite, admission to the MA in Curriculum and Instruction program. This course is designed to give teacher candidates a broad overview of educational environments including current research, theoretical perspectives, and practical applications. Candidates will begin developing pedagogical approaches and classroom management strategies that are contextually and culturally responsive, inclusive, equitable, and restorative, in order to create positive and productive learning environments. Candidates also will critically reflect on their own identities, beliefs, and educational experiences, the prevailing beliefs and practices of current teachers, and the implications for working in culturally diverse classrooms and schools. Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
