Prerequisites, pass MUS 102 or MUS 102B with a “C” or better, and MUS 233 with a “C” or better. Prerequisites for B.M. composition major, pass MUS 102 or MUS 102B with a “B” or better, and MUS 233 with a “B” or better. The study of Western music styles and genres in historical and cultural context. Covers the Classical and Early Romantic periods, c. 1750-1850. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
