MUS 230 - Introduction to Composition and Songwriting

Prerequisite, MUS 128, or consent of instructor. Open to non-music majors. Intended for musicians who are not music majors, this course assists students in writing their own music, breaking down essential components of music theory, song structure and basic compositional techniques common to many musical styles. The course format involves lecture, workshopping of works in progress, in class performance, improvisation and discussion. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
