FP 542A - Pre-Production Planning

Prerequisite, film production major with cinematography or directing emphasis. An introduction to the basic principles of physical production including crew hierarchy and roles/responsibilities, on-set protocol, scheduling, budgeting, location management, legal issues relating to intellectual property, and safety. The course also introduces students to professional craft unions and guilds as well as the business of directing and cinematography from the producer’s point of view. Letter grade. (Offered fall semester.) 1½ credits
