MATH 440 - Topology

Prerequisite, MATH 211 . Topology studies the general concept of continuity and those properties of spaces that are preserved by continuous functions. Some important topics include: construction of topological spaces and continuous functions, nets and filters, density, connectedness, compactness, metrizable spaces, separation axioms especially Hausdorff separation, Scott topologies, and sober spaces. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
