Multiple Subject Credential

The Multiple Subject Credential authorizes the holder to teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom, K-12, as well as in preschool and adult education. It is the credential sought by those who wish to teach elementary education (K-6).
Requirements for the Multiple Subject Credential
- Bachelor’s degree, CBEST, or equivalent.
- Completion of Subject Matter Competency (Passage of CSET or equivalent prior to Student Teaching.)
- Meet the U.S. Constitution requirement (by transcript or exam).
- Obtain a California Certificate of Clearance.
- Complete Infant, Child and Adult CPR requirement.
- Negative TB test or equivalent plus any other medical requirement (including but not limited to specific vaccinations) required by assigned fieldwork placement sites.
- Successful completion of the California Teacher Performance Assessments (CalTPAs) and/or additional specific assessments for their respective credential authorization as required by the CTC at the time of the candidate’s application for their credential.
- In addition, all teacher education program candidates are expected to fulfill the Teacher Education Disposition Policy, which can be found in their respective Program Handbook.
- Successful completion of all credential courses listed in the respective credential area.
- Completion of a minimum of 600 fieldwork hours across the arc of the program.
Students pursuing the Multiple Subject Credential are held to the University’s Academic Policies and Procedures.
- Minimum grade “C+” or above required in all graduate coursework.
- Maintain 3.000 GPA in all graduate coursework.
