Community Educational Studies, Minor

The Minor in Community Educational Studies (CES) is designed for students who want to gain general expertise in the theoretical, structural, psychological and sociocultural aspects of education both in formal settings, such as nonprofit organizations and informal settings at all stages of development (child-adolescent-adult). Students who intend to teach at the secondary level are encouraged to pursue the Minor in Secondary Education, which is specifically tailored to their preparation.

Students pursuing the Minor in Community Educational Studies are required to:

  • Take all courses in the minor for a letter grade.
  • Complete all courses with a “C-” or higher.
  • Ensure that 12 credits are upper division and that at least 6 credits of the upper-division credits are completed in residency.
  • Complete 12 unique credits in the minor that are not duplicated in any other major or minor program in which the student is enrolled.
