Music Technology, Minor

The Minor in Music Technology is designed to give students an exposure to a variety of technology related courses. These courses will deal with computers, software and equipment necessary in music technology environments.

All undergraduate students of any major are eligible to declare this minor, including  students earning a B.M. in Composition, a B.M. in Performance (all emphases), and a B.M. (Pre-Music Education Certification) both emphases.  Music majors declaring this minor must substitute for MUS 128  and MUS 230  with 6 credits of music technology courses that are not part of the major degree program. Non-music majors passing out of MUS 128  or MUS 230  by placement exam, must substitute enough credits from courses in the minor to finish the minor with a minimum of 21 credits. Students earning a B.A. in Music are not eligible for this minor.

Admission process: Contact conservatory chair for and interview to determine if it is possible to complete the minor in time to graduate. If it is, you will be placed on the pre-minor list. After being placed on this list, you will be eligible to submit the form to declare your minor.

  • A minimum of 12 credits must be selected from upper-division courses.
  • A minimum of 12 credits must be unique and not shared with any other major or minor.
