Transferability of credits from other institutions that are not already approved for articulation to Chapman will be determined at the discretion of the program director.
All students must complete required coursework in four competency areas for a total of 53 credits (37 lower-division and 15 upper-division credits). The competency areas include:
- core biophysical science/social science competency
- science competency
- environmental science and policy competency
- data acquisition and analysis and display
Students then select to concentrate in one of two emphases: biophysical science or social science. Students must complete 12-16 credits in their selected emphasis and 3-4 credits in the other emphasis (for a total of 15-19 credits).
Students are required to complete the capstone series.
Program Learning Outcomes for B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy
Students pursuing the B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy are required to:
- Earn an overall GPA of 2.000 for all required major courses.
- Complete all courses in the major for a letter grade, except those where the default grading option is P/NP.
- Complete a minimum of 21 credits from upper-division courses in the major.
- Complete the capstone course requirements, ENV 497 & ENV 498 .
Majors are required to enroll in FFC 100B - First Year Foundations: Grand Challenges in Science and Engineering or FFC 100D - First Year Foundations: Topics in Conversations in Engaging the World to satisfy their General Education requirement.
