Graphic Design, B.F.A.

The B.F.A. in Graphic Design is for students wishing to pursue graphic design in the larger context of professional applications and practices. A rigorous sequence of design studio classes is combined with courses that explore the history and theory of the discipline as well as the necessary techniques and software relevant to the field. The B.F.A. prepares students for professional employment in the various fields of graphic design.

All transfer students accepted in the BFA Graphic Design Program as a major must complete 3 years at Chapman (no exceptions). A maximum of 4 courses can be substituted from other institutions into the Graphic Design curriculum.

Students pursuing the B.F.A. in Graphic Design are required to:

  • Maintain at least a 2.000 grade point average in the major.
  • Earn a grade of “C” or higher in all major courses, unless specifically noted*.
  • Complete all courses in the major for a letter grade.
  • Complete 36 credits from upper-division courses in the major.
  • Complete the capstone requirements GD 300, GD 306, GD 408.
  • Complete a 3-credit GD 490 - Independent Internship in the fall or spring senior year.
