PT 672 - Physical Therapy Ethics and Law

Prerequisites, enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, PT 692 or PT 693. This course covers the legal responsibilities and boundaries of physical therapy practice with a focus on jurisdictional requirements in California and current legal issues. The ethical principles and core documents relevant to the patient-provider role and professional duties will be explored. Ethical and legal situations frequently encountered in physical therapy practice in clinical, organizational, and societal aspects are integrated into the course content. The course is conducted in a lecture/seminar format. Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
