AVE 292 - Preproduction Gen AI for animation and VFX

Prerequisite, AVE major. The course focuses primarily on image and video generation integrated with tradition Animation and VFX workflows. Students are introduced to the current commercial platforms widely used for text/image to image and video. Locally installed models will be utilized along with associated workflows to generate content that stays on university servers to provide full IP protection. Training local models to replicate students’ unique design styles will be explored. A mixture of traditional workflows and generative AI will be encouraged and supported. Preproduction concept art and previsualization video generation will be the primary content that students produce. Letter grade. This course may be repeated for credit. Fee: $300 (Offered fall semester.) 3 credits
