ENG 453 - Advanced Photojournalism

Prerequisite, ENG 253, or consent of instructor. This class will cover advanced principles of photojournalism, ethics, and visual newsgathering with an emphasis on accuracy, caption writing, basic newsgathering, image photo editing, digital darkroom, scanning and workflow. Students will learn to translate the 5w’s of journalism into visuals-showing what, who, where, when and why with the camera with introductions to strobe photography for both portrait and studio. Must have access to 35mm camera. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
