PHRM 789 - Health Equity

This course will introduce students to principles of health equity and provide a broad overview of health disparities, social determinants of health, and structural competency in U.S. health care. Students will be given the opportunity to discover, analyze, and reflect on the ways that our identity, biases, and cultural backgrounds intersect and impact interactions with patients and delivery of healthcare. Students will be expected to critically evaluate and respectfully discuss research on health disparities and investigate interventions to promote health equity. The goal of the Health Equity elective is to prepare students to become culturally humble and collaborative health care professionals who promote health equity. Numerical grading.
